An infographic is a visual representation of data and information.
It is an easy way to make complicated data into easy to understand pictures and
graphics. Infographics are useful in the library because it catches the patron’s
eye and interest more than a poster or worksheet with information and data
printed in essay form. This is a great way for students to present research, as
well.
Infogr.am- This is a free website that allows
students to create charts, pictures and graphs. Students can import data from
Google Sheets and Excel. This was an easy to use site, with a simple interface.
I was able to navigate Infogr.am fairly easily, but the site did not have as
many options as other infographic sites.
Piktochart-This is
also a free site to create infographics. Piktochart has a limited number of
options when selecting a template. Students can import Google Sheets and Excel
charts into Piktochart as well. This site also gives the user the option to
embed a video. Out of the other sites I explored, this was my favorite site to
create an infographic.
Below is an infographic I created using Piktochart.
Great infographic in Piktochart. I enjoyed working in that one as well. It was user friendly, but not overwhelming. Infogram did not have as many options. I could not even get an infographics completed in Easely. Your blog looks great. By you adding in the visuals, this made the post even more interesting and appealing to view.
ReplyDeleteI really enjoyed your piktochart. I felt it was also a great one to work with. I found it had lots to offer. But my favorite was Easelly. It seemed to be the simplest for me. The visuals on your description of the three sites for infographics was a very creative addition to your post. Nice presentation.
ReplyDeleteYour infographic looks sharp! I like the topic that you chose. Libraries and books are changing as technology is evolving. We have all these digital natives hungry for digital resources and trying to stay engaged while reading. Yet many other generations, digital immigrants, seem to struggle to adapt to the new technologies. Actually all three were easy to use, however some had more features than others.
ReplyDeleteGreat infographic! It is easy to read and clean so you don't get lost in all of the information. I too enjoyed using Piktochart. It was user friendly and had a lot to offer. I think this would be great for students to use when creating presentations.
